Ongoing projects by consortium members in the different African countries

Our members are engaged in basic and applied research projects covering a wide range of topics in different across the continent.

These topics include surveillance and monitoring of ticks and tick-borne diseases, vaccine development and treatment of ticks and tick-borne diseases, genomics and animal breeding, land-use changes and climate change.

AfriCoTT provides the platform for networking and collaborations  and promotes the involvement of communities, citizen participation and citizen science in finding solutions to the tick and tick-borne disease problems in Africa. Rural communities and poor livestock farmers are exposed to high burden and prevalence of ticks and tick-borne diseases. Hence, partnering with these populations to collect data will empower communities with the knowledge to better manage the tick problem, build trust between researchers and lay people and improve overall data collection.
